This is Faculty of Communication

We realize that we live in a world where some are more equal. But instead of getting angry at the darkness, we are here for the young people who will light a candle. In this age where everything is changed so that nothing changes, everything happens while we live. The flood is breaking and the world is being rebuilt every day. “The world as we know it has come to an end… We are in the middle of a dark forest, not knowing exactly which way to go.” By Wallerstein, there was no Covid-19 yet. We have not yet experienced that people, companies and states who see themselves as capable of everything can be so helpless in the face of a virus. It has probably been said before that 'nothing will ever be the same'. The world, which we think we know everything about, continues to show us a new face and surprise us with each passing day. Every day we wake up to a new world, learn new information, and try to find our way in this dark forest.

We are in a period full of paradoxes and contradictions, in which modern life, flowing at the speed of light, drags us all in front of it. It is as if we are compelled to live a life where every moment we live can be monitored with our digital footprints and we feel that we are under constant control. We often overlook how virtual and how real our lives are. As everything solid evaporates, we know that our salvation from the flood is hidden in the values that make us who we are. But we believe it is possible to get out of the straitjacket by standing up. We are aware that we have young people who will come out of the shadow play and see the real sun and come running to the people of the city and tell the truth.

We want our students to be intellectual individuals who are aware of their social responsibilities, who can take initiative and who can open the horizon of the society, as well as their technical and professional competencies. Without forgetting that we are in communication science, we will strive to train well-equipped communication professionals who are fed from many social science fields from economics to sociology, from psychology to politics, from history to law, from philosophy to statistics. We will not lose sight of the ability to read, analyze and interpret the real agenda, as well as catching the current language imposed by globalization. We will not neglect to gain practice and skills as well as to closely monitor and research developments in information and communication technologies.

We want to graduate our students with the competence to take part in any sector that requires communication skills from local to global, by closely following national and international communication education curricula. To this end, we will implement a student-focused curriculum that attaches importance to equality of opportunity and focuses on effective learning, shaped by our students, academics, professionals and industry stakeholders in our theoretical and practical courses. By following the changing sector conditions and technological innovations, we will increase the number of elective courses and enable them to specialize in certain fields.

We are a very young faculty that has 4 departments: Public Relations and Advertising, Journalism, Radio-Television and Cinema, Communication Design and Media, and started to accept students since the 2013-2014 academic year. However, we have the potential to fill an important gap in the sector with our more than a thousand students. We are ready to welcome our new friends with our university, Living Campus and hundreds of students, with its modern and technological infrastructure, which is very close to metropolitan cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and Kocaeli.

My mother used to say that the pomegranate is the fruit of paradise and that only one of the seeds in the pomegranate comes from heaven. She advised me to give each one the same care, in case they came from heaven. Who knows, maybe one of the young people who will be a light for a more livable world is among the students of Sakarya University Faculty of Communication!

We aspire to raise brave young people who have something to say to the new world. Knowing that every spring starts with a flower, we are here with hundreds of young people who will aspire to change the world, without forgetting that change starts with ourselves.

Now it needs to be said new things.
